How to Manifest Wishes - a guide to longterm journaling

December 30, 2023

It all started with a book - as it usually does.

Last week, when my roommate Gennie went back to America for winter break she left me the most life changing book.

“A Happy Pocket Full of Money” by David Cameron Gikandi. It’s already had the most profound impact on my life.

For clarity, I’m not even half way through the book and it’s already shifting my entire belief system, manifesting power, and elevating my mind exponentially.

You may think I’m overexaggerating. Surprisingly, I’m not.

I’m 97 pages into this 230 page book and my mind has changed forever: time has been discredited, the past, present, and future are one, and the beliefs I have in my ability to manifest my dream life are impenetrable.

To fully understand the scope of what I’m talking about, you’d need to buy and read the book, which I highly recommend. I cannot stress enough the power of this novel and how it will send you into another dimension.

But, for those of you who simply want to learn the manifesting tool I’ve been creating and implementing with the help of this book, here’s a step by step guide into the powerful tool of a manifestation journal.

To begin, let me describe the premise of this journal. Everything you’ll ever want for the next 30 years, goes here. And I mean everything. From the shoes that you want today to the career that you want tomorrow, everything you wish is written down.

There are guidelines of course, all of them straight forward and easy to follow, but you must be dedicated, consistent, and believe daily to see the profound external results coming to you through this practice. And from someone who just started this a couple days ago, I can say excitedly that I already feel the life of my dreams materializing and finding its way to me.

The most important aspects of this journal are that it’s:

  1. portable (carry it with you everywhere)

  2. uses present tense in the “I am” form

  3. and that you read, visualize, and add to it every day (preferably twice a day).

Creating my dream life is worth every second I spend crafting this journal, and focusing on it frequently puts my mind into a state of abundance, clarity, and persistence.

Each desire comes with three parts.

  • the desire itself in exact detail

  • reasons why you want this in your life

  • and the closest image to your wish that you can find.

The more details you give and the harder you believe in it’s existence, the more clear and effortlessly it’ll appear in your life.

Understand as well, that “thoughts take time to manifest into physical reality”, this isn’t about setting a date for when these things will happen (“the universe will take care of the appropriate timing for you”), it’s about making sure you know where you wish to go, to ensure you’ll end up there (Gikandi, 89).

Gikandi also specifies that wealthy people have upwards of 5000 things in their journal. So truly be as detailed as you can and make sure to include big, small, and every size in between wishes, because the more you add the more the universe has to work with.

Here are some other guidelines mentioned in the book:

  1. Meditate, visualize, and express these wishes for, he recommends, at least twenty minutes a day, twice a day. After doing so, think of one small act you can do in the present Now, that will bring you closer to your goals. There’s always something do be done, act with purpose.

  2. Do everything with gratitude. Think, speak, and act with gratitude - the gratitude of knowing you are guaranteed success if you act in these ways. Gratitude is a state of certainty, trust it.

  3. Do not change your mind. These manifestations are coming into physical form for you and by changing your mind you’re undoing your own work. He simply recommends to hold the thought until it becomes physical.

  4. Use affirmative language. If you were to say, “I am not (blank)”, your brain skips over the “not” and only hears what you are. So instead of saying, “I am not ugly”, say “I am beautiful”, for example.

  5. Record other important thoughts in your journal, daily experiences included. Record as much as you possibly can - the more events you capture every day, the more you’ll get out of it. I have a separate journal for these everyday thoughts, but you can do it however you like.

  6. Once a month, review and reread your journal. Once a year, reread all your journals. It can be amazing for understanding yourself better, seeing clearly, and growing faster.

  7. Write down good ideas and inspiration as soon as it comes to you, you’re receiving downloads from Source. These ideas are liking to leave as quickly as they appear, so record them, you’ll thank yourself later.

  8. When waking up in the morning and right before bed, think about big ideas and questions you’d like to answer. You’re connected to Source in these moments between full consciousness and if you ask a question, an answer will flood in. I’ve done it recently and it’s so powerful. The answers come right away without trying.

  9. Whatever you ask for, whatever you intend earnestly, and with full conviction shall be yours. So believe with every ounce of your being and trust that your wishes want you more than you want them.

  10. Wealth is abundance expressed, abundance is all there is, it’s your birth right. So, think of everything you want that will make your life as abundant as possible for you, for those around you, and for all life, then write them down with clarity and conviction.

I decided to create my journal in Google Docs, instead of in a physical form seeing as I don’t want to print 5000 photos or write everything by hand. Instead, I created a document sectioned out by life categories with a three columned table for each section - desires, reasons, and images. I’ve been filling out each column as the wishes come to me. I’m over 30 pages in two days with anywhere from 3 to 26 items per section and have no plans of stopping anytime soon.

The sections I’ve created so far have titles like dream home, things I want to learn, material things I want, career, finances, etc., but the organization of your journal can be anything you want, you don’t even need sections if you don’t want them. For easy organization, though, I do recommend coming up with a filing system to easily find your entries as the amount of wishes increase. I’m using a table of contents, but color coding, creating tabs, making an index, etc., especially for a physical journal, will be super helpful down the line.

My entries look like this (these are not my actual entries, just examples):

It’s very important to make your journal your own, so if that means making a physical journal then do it. You could also make a powerpoint presentation, Goodnotes notebook, vision board, etc. Do it in any way that makes sense for you, but again, make sure you can always carry it around.

Throughout the chapter, Gikandi stresses the importance of manifesting and visualizing the wishes you want to experience. You can do this through purposeful meditation by sitting, breathing, and feeling presently, or, for those who are busy, you can come up with ideas that you can do awake and throughout your day.

For instance, today as I wandered through my present, I had multiple pretend phone calls with friends and family about my life. I chose a specific set of wishes I’d like to envision and acted as if they’d already happened. The “conversation” came to me naturally and I felt every ounce of emotion as if I’d really lived it. The subconscious doesn’t know the difference between reality and a story you’re telling it, so come up with a compelling story and you’re golden. That’s how I chose to spend my twenty minutes, that ended up being over an hour, of active visualization and manifestation today, and you can do something similar in your practice.

This journal can be such a fun activity, so make it fun. Play with colors, photos, textures, and words. Use it to tap into your inner child and make their precious dreams come true one wish at a time.

It’s such a powerful tool and every day I feel closer to my wishes than ever before, more direction in my life path, and an overwhelming excitement to add more to this incredible google document.

I know I’ll be using this for years, spending time every day to curate and manifest, and I know every wish on it is mine to experience in divine timing. Whatever your age, current life, or previous background, doing this activity and reading this book will benefit you. And in the very least it’s a fun craft to indulge in.

Remember, your current life is the materialization of your past self’s thoughts, so if you’re not in the present moment you want to be in, it’s probably from a lack of guiding and planning in your past. With direction, consistency, and dedication you can curate and plan for the future present moments you’ll experience. Every thought you have is being materialized by the universe as they occur. Life wants nothing more than to express your thoughts in physical form, so it’s up to you to choose the thoughts that will manifest and be expressed in your daily life. It’s all up to you, you’re the creator of your reality, and as a multidimensional being, you’re more powerful than you let yourself believe.

I hope this was helpful. If you have questions feel free to reach out and I’ll help in any way I can, but truly any questions can be answered by this book. Please read it.

Thanks for being here :)
